The Process

You are now a Zoologist!

You are now ready to learn more about your animal, its habitat, and the exhibit they will be featured in.

Ready to begin?

  1. Your teacher will first assign you a team and an animal that you will be learning more about.  Within your team, you will become an expert about your animal, its habitat, and type of zoo exhibit your animal will need.
  2. Now that you have become one of our experts, you need to pick 6 of the most valuable facts that you learned about as an expert.
  3.  As an official expert, you will teach the rest of your group about the information you have learned. You will take turns sharing your facts with the rest of your group. Remember to work as a team.
  4. Now comes the most important job. As a team, decide which project you would like to complete. You have a choice of making a poster of your animal and its exhibit, create a 3-D model exhibit for your animal, or create a PowerPoint presentation about your animal and its exhibit.
    • Poster Project- Your teacher will provide your team with poster paper to design your animal’s new zoo exhibit.
    • Model Project- Your teacher will provide you with an empty shoe box that you will use to create your animal’s new zoo exhibit.
    • PowerPoint Presentation- Your teacher will provide you with a computer to create a presentation about your animal’s new zoo exhibit.
  5. You may use a computer to find and print pictures to add to your zoo exhibit, or you may bring in objects from home to add to your zoo exhibit.
  6. Your presentation should include
    • 6 facts about your animal
    • 6 facts about its habitat
    • 6 facts about the type of exhibit you created.
  7. When all projects are complete, your group will present your new exhibit to the creators of the zoo. Make sure to talk about your animal and the special things about your exhibit.
